Description

Certified, organic, preservative-free, and GMO-free hand-feeding blend suitable for hand-feeding parrot chicks until weaning. It is also an ideal transition food after using Neonate Formula for newly hatched chicks.

Harrison’s Juvenile Handfeeding Formula is given to birds recovering from illness or injury and to those who have lost weight during a diet change. The blend can be provided to pet birds of all ages.

The blend includes nutrients necessary for chick growth and recovery from illness or injury.

Feeding instructions:

NB! When feeding chicks, use the correct feeding technique to avoid bird injuries or inhalation of the mix, which can lead to pneumonia or death.

Species: From day 1 for Pionus, African Grey Parrots, Amazons, Cockatoos, Macaws, Conures, and Aratingas. Other species from day 7. Cockatiels from day 21.

Step 1 – Before feeding, gently touch the chick’s crop to ensure it is almost empty.

Step 2 – Mix the blend with clean drinking water at a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius. Follow the blend-to-water ratio according to the bird’s age or veterinarian instructions. Do not use a microwave to heat the food! Feed chicks with open eyes 3–4 times a day and growing feathered birds 2–3 times a day.

Step 3 – Feeding with a syringe is the most universal technique. While facing the bird, position the syringe to enter the bird’s mouth from the left side, directing it towards the bird’s throat on the right side.

Step 4 – Feed the chick until the crop is full, but be cautious not to overfill. Clean any food residues around the beak and feathers.

For one- to seven-day-old chicks and slow-emptying crops, adding a pinch of Fauna Flora digestive supplement to the milk mixture may be beneficial. To facilitate weaning after 21 days of age, add 1 tablespoon of finely chopped High Potency pellets or serve them crushed separately.
